The Eurasia Observatory

The Eurasia Observatory is a research project associated to one of COMPOLITICAS´s (Interdisciplinary Group of Studies in Communication, Politics and Social Change) research fields, that is, “History of Propaganda and Analyisis of Political Communication”. The Observatory´s main goal is to study, to research and to disseminate the most relevant issues in politics and communication taking place nowadays across the former USSR territory.

Research interest here is in keeping with the certainty that new elements should be brought into focus to build a true history of universal communication, overcoming this way its traditional shortcoming, eurocentrism. Consequently, the Observatory approaches the post-Soviet space from a multidisciplinary perspective encompassing various interests: history, culture, religion, political and social progress, international relations, etc; all of which supply a knowledge needed to understand in its right terms the historical development of different ways of communicating in this area of the world.

But the Eurasia Observatory also stands for activism, human rights and free development of any nation´s potential. For this purpose, we collaborate with groups promoting “peace cultures”, specially by providing a thorough, non-stereotyped information on the conflicts taking place across this region.
